Canadian Taylor Pendrith leads by one at Rocket Mortgage Basic

Canada’s Taylor Pendrith has a one-shot lead on American Tony Finau after two rounds of the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Basic in Detroit.

The native of Richmond Hill, Ont., shot a 7-under 65 on Friday and is 15 beneath for the match.

Tied for the lead with Finau after the opening spherical, Pendrith opened his day Friday with 4 birdies in a row.

Pendrith, a 31-year-old PGA Tour rookie, led the Bermuda Championship by three strokes coming into the ultimate spherical earlier this season, however had a 76 on the Sunday to complete in a career-best tie for fifth.
